Tacos & Crocodiles

We started our day with breakfast in the courtyard restaurant at our hotel, had our rental SUV dropped off by the very personable "Luis" from Rioja Rental Cars, logged about 30 minutes of Duo App Spanish lessons with the girls, loaded up our gear and off we went! Our mobile data plans were not working so we found our way out of San Jose and to the Pacific coast old school style - a hotel-supplied tourist map, a bit of common sense and a few "are we lost?" inquiries from the girls.
About two hours later we hit our first stop, the Tarcoles River Bridge to see the crocodiles. Wow! 20+ crocks on the river bank or in the water below the bridge and several of them must have been over 20 feet long. We were all amazed by the sight.
Next was tacos at Jacos (that is tacos at Taco Bar, a great place to grab lunch in Jaco Beach). Good food, good drinks and a great outdoor atmosphere that includes swings at the eating bar.
Then back in the car for a bit of a nail bighter through a ton of rain, some two-lane-road construction traffic, but also some magnificent Pacific coast views on our way to Uvita which is our mid-point stopover on our way down to Pavones.
It was a good day!
Hasta Mañana
