Another Day in Paradise

We woke up in Leverick Bay, had a quick breakfast with tea and coffee (finally ran out of Britt Costa Rican Espresso Roast and moved on to Cafe Mono Congo's "King Kong" - not sure what my third favorite coffee in the world is but those are definitely one and two). Once we cast off the mooring ball, we motored north through the channel out of North Sound. When we were clear of the channel, we raised sails and headed for Savanna Bay to check it out. Unfortunately the relatively small swell was breaking right on the beach and the winds were not in our favour so we were not able to anchor there and explore. Instead, we continued on to Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbour in Spanish Town. The plan here was to fill up diesel tanks in preparation for returning the boat on Sunday. On the way into the marina, we passed Sy Hemisphere which is a 44 meter catamaran yacht and makes everything else on the water look extremely small.
In the harbour we tied up to the fuel dock and were informed that the pumps were not working and they could not refuel us. So we topped up our fresh water tanks, gave up on refuelling Peace Out (we still had 3/4 of our total starting load of diesel fuel since we sailed almost everywhere we had gone over the three week trip) and resigned ourselves to returning it to The Catamaran Company in need of a top up.
From Spanish Town, we made the short run over to the Baths on the southwestern tip of Virgin Gorda. With a 3-4 foot northerly swell, the swim and dingy approach options for getting on shore were too risky (again, same as when we went with Larry & Dora on March 2) so we swam and snorkeled around the boat, took some drone footage, and had a nice lunch on board.

After the Baths, we sailed over to Cooper Island which is just south of the eastern tip of Tortola. We were here three years ago when the Cooper Island Beach Club was open and have fond memories of their rum bar. We knew they were still rebuilding from Irma but it is still a beautiful anchorage so we grabbed a mooring ball and took the dingy into shore to check out their progress and let the kids play on the beach.

Cooper Island is almost good as new and has a target opening date of April 1st so we look forward to coming back someday soon either by sail or just to stay at the resort.
As the sun set, we headed back to the boat, cooked a great dinner of fresh tuna, grilled pineapple and coconut rice. Our two resident paddle boarders, Laura and Mark, paddled around the anchorage giving us (and neighboring boats) a brilliant photo op against the sunset.

It is starting to feel redundant to even say it, but it was another amazing day and we do not take one minute of it for granted.
