Sisters Traveling Together

My latest journey began yesterday at the Toronto airport where I met Jennifer for our departure to Thailand for a sisterhood adventure to celebrate her 40th birthday earlier this year. When we were greeted by the Air Canada agent, she said with a big smile “Sisters traveling together!”. How did she know I wondered? “You look so much alike” she said as if we must get that all the time. I suppose it's fair to say we have heard that a lot over the years. Lucky me!

Our trip began with a small hiccup when our 9:50am departure was delayed until 1:00pm (which would mean missing our connection in Hong Kong). While we were disappointed, we reminded ourselves of all the ways it could be worse and took it as a reminder that life doesn’t always go exactly according to your plan!

The 19 hours of flying was a first for us, as was the direction we traveled. It was interesting to track our location as we headed far north of Toronto across Hudson Bay, Nunavut and the Arctic Ocean.

When we were very far north I looked out the window and was struck by the glowing horizon, the deep blue sky, and the icy white land of nothingness.

After our transfer in Hong Kong, we arrived in Bangkok, a little haggard but still feeling good. The traffic from the airport to our hotel (wow!) was our final challenge on the long journey. After we checked into our hotel, situated in the heart of Bangkok on the river, we sat on the terrace to enjoy the view with a late night snack and a tea.

And now we are off to bed to rest before a big day tomorrow exploring Bangkok. A great big warm goodnight from "the land of smiles".

Laura & Jennifer ❤❤
